All_Together_Now_banner

In addition to ongoing student and staff choice reading, the 2023 Summer Reading Celebration includes:

  • a ONE OCPS book selection for each grade level band with interactive reading guides for the summer
  • a bingo challenge with specific literacy goals and activities for students at each grade level band
  • virtual tickets for prizes, earned by completing bingo activities in Beanstack

The One OCPS book titles selected for the 2023 Summer are:

As your family reads this summer, OCPS encourages you to share the literacy message via Twitter. Using the hashtag, #OCPSreads, we hope our students (over 13 years of age) and parents will share what you are reading, where you are reading and how much you are reading. Utilize the hashtag when posting pictures of books and fun places that students read over the summer, too.

Visit the OCPS LaunchPad to access the Beanstack app for your students to complete fun reading themed tasks found on our Summer Reading bingo board.  When students complete enough activities and earn a bingo, they are entered to win great prizes.

Here are a few easy ways to include reading as part of your every day during the summer, even when you are on the go! The Sora app provides students and teachers with access to eBooks and audiobooks and includes over 100 titles in Spanish. The Sora app is available for free on iTunes and the app store. You can also find it in the Library Research Tools folder on LaunchPad. In addition, Sora links with the OCLS and the VLC, to give students and teachers access to thousands of OCLS titles. Holds for popular titles can be made through the Sora app (Spanish Version).

Sora's here. Check it out.

    Just Read, Florida!

Strong parental involvement is a key component of the Just Read, Florida! initiative. Other than helping your children to grow up happy and healthy, the most important thing that you can do for them is help them develop their reading skills.
